CO Gladys Kivoto Graces Nicholas Kivite’s Dowry Payment Ceremony in Itulu, Ikanga/Kyatune Ward

Super Chief Officer for Agriculture & Fisheries and Kitui South incoming MP Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, joined residents of Itulu Village in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward to celebrate the dowry payment ceremony of Nicholas Kivite and his wife, Catherine Robert.

The colourful traditional ceremony brought together family members, friends, and hundreds of local residents in a show of unity and cultural pride. Kivoto’s presence underscored her continued commitment to standing with the community during both celebratory and challenging moments.

Nicholas Kivite, who serves as Personal Assistant to Ikanga/Kyatune Ward MCA Cyrus Musyoka, marked a significant milestone in his marriage through the ceremony, which is a key cultural rite in the Kamba community.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Mami Kivoto congratulated the couple for taking a major step in formalizing their union describing the ceremony as an important milestone in their lives. She wished them a successful and stable marriage, urging them to build a strong family foundation anchored on mutual respect and understanding. “I congratulate Nicholas and Catherine for this important step in their journey together. I wish you both a happy and fulfilling union,” she said.

Area MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka also attended the event, where he lauded his Personal Assistant, Nicholas Kivite, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking individual. He commended the couple for upholding cultural traditions and wished them well in their marriage.

Hon. Mami Kivoto continues to gain ground as a strong contender in the Kitui South parliamentary race where she is seeking to succeed the current Member of Parliament, who has held the seat for 15 years now.

Her leadership track record spans two terms in county government. She first served as Chief Officer for Trade between 2013 and 2017 during the first tenure of Kitui Governor Julius Malombe. She currently serves as Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries (2022–2027), with her reappointment widely seen as a clear testament to her strong performance and leadership capabilities in her previous role, reinforcing confidence in her ability to effectively lead and represent the great people of Kitui South as their next Member of Parliament.

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, political momentum continues to build across Kitui South, with many residents expressing a desire for transformative leadership and accelerated development. Hon. Gladys Kivoto pledges to champion inclusive growth and address long-standing development challenges in the constituency.

Ikanga/Kyatune Ward Wiper Patriotic Front Coordinator, Queen Masila, and Athi Ward MCA aspirant Alex Mwangangi were also in attendance at the event.
