Hundreds of members of Mathima Financial Services Association (FSA) have unanimously endorsed Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto’s bid for the Kitui South parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 General Elections, describing her as the most suitable and development-oriented leader to steer the constituency forward.

The endorsement came during the 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Mathima FSA held at Mathima Market in Mutha Ward, where members drawn from different parts of Mutha ward and beyond openly declared their support for Hon. Mami Kivoto, saying “it is Mami Kivoto or never.”.

Speaking during the AGM, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto who’s also Chief officer for Agriculture and Fisheries encouraged farmers to embrace a culture of saving and investment through Financial Services Associations and other community financial groups.

She urged residents not to sell all their farm produce immediately after harvest, especially green grams (ndengu), without proper financial planning. “I want ask everyone to learn how to save and reinvest. Even after selling produce, let us cultivate a culture of buying shares in our FSAs and even opening accounts for our children so that they grow knowing the importance of saving and financial discipline,” she said.

Hon. Mami Kivoto further challenged residents to join FSAs and other financial empowerment groups as a way of improving household incomes, accessing affordable loans, and strengthening economic stability among families.

Residents noted that Hon. Mami Kivoto has continued to gain popularity and trust among the people of Kitui South across all the 6 wards due to her humility, close engagement with wananchi, and dedication to development matters.

The FSA’s Members vowed to fully support her 2027 parliamentary bid, saying they’re ready to rally behind her candidature and mobilize support across the constituency.

Hon. Mami Kivoto has consistently stood with ordinary wananchi and championed initiatives aimed at uplifting livelihoods through agriculture, financial empowerment, and community development programs.

Addressing the members, Hon. Mami Kivoto remained cautious but appreciative of the growing support, saying that when the right time comes, she will officially seek the mandate of the people of Kitui South to serve them as their next Member of Parliament. “When the right time comes, I will come to the people of Kitui South and humbly ask for their support and votes so that together we can transform our constituency,” she said.
