Kitui County Woman Rep. and gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu is set to embark on a five-day Ziara Mashinani “Meet the People” tour  across Kitui East Constituency as she continues her countywide grassroots engagement strategy ahead of the upcoming 2027 General Election.

The highly anticipated tour forms part of Dr. Kasalu’s countywide consultations aimed at interacting directly with residents, listening to their concerns, and popularizing her development agenda for Kitui County.

Having successfully conducted similar tours in Mwingi North and Kitui South constituencies, Dr. Kasalu has now shifted her focus to Kitui East, one of the areas widely considered to be among her strongest political support bases.

The Woman Representative has been traversing all 8 constituencies of Kitui County under her “Meet the People” initiative, beginning with areas largely perceived as part of the broader Ndee Nation. The move is viewed as an early but calculated strategy to strengthen her grassroots network and consolidate support for her gubernatorial bid.

During her recent engagements in Kitui South, Dr. Kasalu stirred political debate after hinting that she could potentially pick her running mate from the constituency, a move said could strengthen her appeal within one of the county’s largest voting blocs.

The 5-day Kitui East Chapter engagement program, will cover 4 of the constituency’s 6 wards, providing residents with an opportunity to interact directly with her.

According to the tour itinerary, the Kitui East chapter will commence on Tuesday, June 2, with visits to Voo/Kyamatu Ward. On Wednesday, June 3, she will take her campaign to Endau/Malalani Ward.

On Thursday, June 4, the tour will proceed to Mutito/Kaliku Ward while the fourth day of the tour, scheduled for Friday, June 5, will see Dr. Irene Kasalu engage residents of Zombe/Mwitika Ward, an area considered one of her strongest support bases within the constituency.

The five-day Ziara Mashinani tour will culminate on Saturday, June 6, as she will attend several public functions in Endau Ward, bringing together supporters, community leaders, and residents to mark the conclusion of the Kitui East chapter of the initiative.

Her visits in Mwingi North and Kitui South constituencies have attracted large crowds and generated significant political interest as the race for the county’s top seat gradually takes shape.

Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu extensive grassroots engagements, coupled with her development record as Woman Representative, have positioned her as one of the leading contenders in the race to succeed Governor Julius Malombe in 2027.
