Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has officially unveiled the county’s new state-of-the-art headquarters, a landmark development project valued at Ksh. 500 million. The modern building is set to significantly transform the county’s administrative operations by centralizing services and improving government efficiency.

During the grand launch held on Wednesday, Governor Natembeya expressed optimism that the ultra-modern structure would enhance service delivery by bringing all senior county officials under one roof. The new facility will now house County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Chief Officers, Directors, and other key staff. “All County Government services will be available in this building. All government officers, including CECs, Chief Officers, and Directors, will be working from here,” said Natembeya. “In the case that I want to have a meeting with them, I just summon them and they quickly avail themselves here in the boardroom. We will no longer be hiring spaces for meetings.”

The move is expected to save the county significant expenditure previously used on renting meeting venues and offices, while fostering coordination among departments. Governor Natembeya noted that the centralization will also help citizens access services more easily and efficiently.

In a bold move to promote accountability and improve work ethics among county staff, the governor also announced the introduction of a biometric attendance system at the new headquarters. “This building will also have a system where officers will be clocking in once they report for their respective duties and when they leave including myself,” he said.

The biometric system is designed to monitor employee attendance and punctuality, thereby enhancing service delivery and reducing absenteeism.

The unveiling comes shortly after Governor Natembeya resumed office following a 60-day court-ordered suspension over corruption allegations. His return on Monday, July 21, marked a turning point in his administration, with the governor reaffirming his commitment to public service. “After 60 days away, I’m back, recharged, focused, and ready to serve you with full force!” Natembeya declared.

In his statement, he reassured residents that his administration’s development agenda remains on track and undeterred by political or legal setbacks. “No one will shake our resolve to rewrite our story. We are determined to fulfill every campaign pledge and ensure that the people of Trans Nzoia continue to enjoy the benefits that devolution has brought. That is my promise,” he emphasized.
