CO Gladys Kivoto Steps in to Help Athi Family Lay Their Kin to Rest After 4 Months in the Mortuary

In a moving display of compassion and servant leadership, Kitui County Agriculture and Fisheries Chief Officer Gladys Mami Kivoto has once again proven to be a pillar of hope for the people of Kitui South.

The grieving family of the late Mutuku Kinyili from Athi Ward had been living in anguish for months after their loved one went missing on 30th April 2025. Their search came to a painful end when his body was identified at Mutomo Mortuary after four agonizing months. According to administration reports, the body had earlier been recovered along the banks of River Athi at Kamunyuni village.

But even after this heartbreaking discovery, the family faced yet another impossible hurdle. At Mutomo Mortuary bills had accumulated far beyond their means. Without settlement, the remains of their loved one could not be released for burial, prolonging their suffering.

It was at this lowest moment that CO Gladys Kivoto, known for her unwavering compassion, stepped in. Responding to the family’s cry for help, she cleared the entire mortuary bill, ensuring that the late Mutuku Kinyili was finally laid to rest with dignity.
