Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu Launches Several Development Projects in the Constituency
Kitui Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, on Friday August 29, commissioned and inspected a series of development projects across the constituency funded through the Kitui Central NG-CDF.
Among the projects launched was the Kakuuni Assistant Chief’s Office and a pit latrine, constructed at a cost of Ksh. 1.2 million, as well as the Kalundu Assistant Chief’s Office and pit latrine, which also cost Ksh. 1.2 million. The MP further commissioned the renovation of Mulundi Police Post, undertaken at a cost of Ksh 1 million, and officially launched the renovated Dining Hall and Kitchen at Kitui School for the Deaf, which was completed at a cost of Ksh. 2 million.

Speaking at the Kitui School for the Deaf, Dr. Mulu used the opportunity to address the political climate in the country. He condemned the recent heckling of Wiper Patriotic Front Leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka during his political tour in Tharaka Nithi County on Thursday, August 2.
“Every leader in this country has the capacity to pay people to heckle their opponents, but we don’t want our country to go that way,” said Dr. Mulu. “Suppose we say every leader vying for presidency should not step into each other’s political zones, we might divide the country. As Kambas, we have the capacity to say if our leader Kalonzo Musyoka cannot campaign elsewhere, we can as well reject other leaders from coming to Ukambani. But we don’t want a country like that.”

Dr. Mulu also urged the youth to avoid being misused by politicians for disruptive activities. “To our Gen Zs, this is your time to change the leadership of this country. Don’t allow yourselves to be misused for the political gain of others,” he emphasized.
With Mashujaa Day celebrations scheduled to take place in Kitui, the MP extended a warm welcome to President William Ruto. However, he also called on the Head of State to address several long-standing concerns affecting the county.
Dr. Mulu highlighted the delayed compensation of residents displaced during the construction of the Kitui–Kibwezi Road, noting that nearly six years later, many have yet to be compensated. He further urged the government to ensure the completion of the stalled section of the Kitui–Kibwezi Road at Kwa-Siku-Mbondoni in Mwingi West constituency.
“We don’t want to see contractors deployed only during the President’s visit to create an impression of progress, only to abandon the site once he leaves. Our people deserve genuine and lasting development,” Dr. Mulu stated.

Despite his concerns, the MP lauded President Ruto’s government for the ongoing construction of the 10,000-seater Ithookwe Stadium, which will host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations, the mini State Lodge nearing completion, and the tarmacking of Kitui town roads, all in preparation for the national event.
