NLP Leader Dr. Kyalo Muli Leads Kitui Residents in Peaceful Demonstration Against Rising Killings

Hundreds of residents of Kitui County on Thursday June 11,2026, took to the streets in a peaceful demonstration led by National Liberal Party (NLP) leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli to protest the increasing cases of killings and insecurity that have shaken the county in recent months.

The demonstration began at Kaveta Roundabout before winding through various parts of Kitui Town, including Kalundu Market, Kunda Kindu and other key areas, attracting large crowds of concerned residents. The protesters later proceeded to the Kitui County Commissioner’s office, where they presented their concerns and called for urgent intervention by security agencies.

Speaking during the procession, Dr. Kyalo Muli expressed deep concern over what he described as a disturbing trend of reckless killings that has left many families living in fear and uncertainty.

He cited several recent incidents that have alarmed residents, including the deadly Kwa Kamari attack that claimed seven lives, the growing number of reported femicide cases in which women have been found murdered in different parts of Kitui, and the recent discovery of a mass grave in Mwingi Town where four bodies were recovered. “The people of Kitui deserve to live in peace and security. We cannot continue losing innocent lives while remaining silent. It is time for all leaders, security agencies and residents to come together and find lasting solutions to these killings,” said Dr. Kyalo Muli.

The NLP leader called on the national government to strengthen security operations across Kitui County, particularly along border areas that are often vulnerable to criminal activities. He further urged security agencies to expedite investigations into the recent killings and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
