Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe on Tuesday hosted a delegation from the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) Board led by Director General Timothy Nyongesa during a courtesy call at his office, where the team presented findings of a comprehensive quality audit conducted across vocational training institutions in the county.

The visit followed a quality assurance exercise carried out in 32 public Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) across Kitui County to assess compliance with national training standards and evaluate the quality of vocational education being offered to trainees.

According to the audit findings, TVETA noted significant progress in governance, institutional management and compliance with regulatory requirements among the audited institutions. The authority reported that all the assessed vocational training centres had maintained valid accreditation status, demonstrating their commitment to delivering quality and standardized training.

The delegation further lauded the County Government of Kitui for its continued investment in vocational education, particularly through the provision of modern training equipment and the payment of assessment fees for eligible trainees. These interventions, TVETA noted, have played a crucial role in enhancing access to technical skills and improving the quality of training offered in the institutions.

Speaking during the meeting, TVETA Director General Timothy Nyongesa commended the county’s efforts in strengthening vocational training and creating opportunities for young people to acquire market-driven skills that can improve their livelihoods and employment prospects.

Governor Malombe welcomed the findings of the audit and reiterated his administration’s commitment to strengthening education and skills development as a key pillar of socio-economic growth.

He emphasized that vocational training remains an important pathway for empowering youth, promoting self-reliance and addressing unemployment challenges facing many young people in the county.

The Governor noted that his administration will continue investing in technical and vocational education institutions to ensure that learners acquire relevant skills that meet the demands of the labour market and contribute to sustainable development.
