The National Liberal Party (NLP), under the leadership of Party Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, on Wednesday, June 4, 2026, held a high-level consultative meeting with the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), led by Party Leader Hon. Martha Karua, at Liberation House in Nairobi.

The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening collaboration between the two political formations as they reaffirmed their shared commitment to citizen-centered leadership, democratic governance, and issue-based politics aimed at addressing the pressing concerns facing Kenyans.

During the discussions, the two parties agreed to launch a nationwide citizen engagement program that will provide a platform for Kenyans to directly express their views, concerns, and aspirations.

The initiative is expected to focus on key national issues, including youth unemployment, the rising cost of living, economic empowerment, and creating opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

Leaders from both parties emphasized the importance of listening to citizens and involving them in shaping policies that directly impact their lives. They noted that meaningful public participation remains a cornerstone of democratic governance and sustainable national development.

To facilitate the process, the parties announced the establishment of a Joint Technical Committee tasked with developing a comprehensive framework for structured engagements across the country. The committee will oversee consultations with various stakeholders, ensuring that the voices of young people, women, entrepreneurs, and other key groups are incorporated into policy discussions and future governance plans.

Speaking after the meeting, the leaders reiterated their commitment to inclusivity, unity, and empowering citizens to play an active role in determining Kenya’s future. They underscored the need for political leaders to focus on solutions to the challenges facing ordinary Kenyans rather than engaging in divisive politics.

The partnership between NLP and PLP comes at a time when political realignments are taking shape within the emerging United Opposition, with like-minded parties seeking to build a broad-based movement centered on accountability, economic transformation, and people-driven leadership.

As the nationwide engagement program takes shape, the two parties expressed optimism that the initiative will help bridge the gap between leaders and citizens while laying the foundation for a more inclusive and responsive political landscape in Kenya.
