Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo 2026 Postponed to March 2027

The County Government of Kitui has announced the postponement of the 2026 Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo (KASTIE), which was initially scheduled to take place from Thursday, September 24 to Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The expo has now been rescheduled to Thursday, March 11 to Saturday, March 13, 2027.

Speaking to the media at the Governor’s Office Block in Kitui Town, County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture and Livestock Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele said the decision was prompted by the delayed budget process.
“The postponement has been necessitated by the delay in the approval and processing of the County Government budget for the Financial Year 2026/2027,” Dr. Kimwele said.

He said the delay had affected the county’s timelines for securing critical logistical support and procuring goods and services necessary for hosting the expo. “This has adversely affected timelines for securing critical logistics support and the procurement of goods and services essential for the effective hosting of the event,” he said.

Waziri Mbaya Kimwele said moving the event to March 2027 would allow the county government sufficient time to complete the required financial processes and make the necessary preparations. “The postponement will provide the County Government with adequate time to complete the necessary financial processes and to make the necessary related arrangements,” he said.

The annual Agricultural show event brings together farmers, exhibitors, investors, government agencies, participating institutions and other stakeholders to showcase agricultural products and innovations, promote trade and investment, and create business opportunities.

The county government has thanked stakeholders for their efforts and commitment towards making the expo a success. “The County Government of Kitui appreciates the encouraging work and efforts by all stakeholders to make the Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo a success,” waziri Mbaya said.
