Dr. Augustus Muli Faults Rigathi Gachagua Over “Double Standards” in Ukambani Politics

The National Liberal Party leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli has launched a sharp criticism against former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of applying double standards in Ukambani politics ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Speaking during a town hall meeting in Kitui where he met hundreds of aspirants from his National Liberal Party (NLP), Dr. Muli claimed that the DCP Party leader is now supporting the very politicians he previously accused of contributing to the underdevelopment of the Ukambani region.

According to Dr. Muli, the latest political alignments by the opposition expose what he termed as “a lack of sincerity” in the United Opposition’s engagement with the people of Ukambani.

The NLP leader questioned the credibility of leaders who, he said, once criticized regional leadership but are now embracing the same individuals for political convenience.

Addressing aspirants seeking various elective seats including Senate, National Assembly, Women Representative and MCA positions, Dr. Muli urged the Ukambani region to embrace a new political direction and reject recycled leadership as the country prepares for the 2027 elections.

He argued that for decades, the Ukambani region has remained politically sidelined and economically underdeveloped due to poor leadership choices and lack of transformative policies.

Dr. Muli emphasized that Ukambani’s future lies in empowering leaders with fresh ideas capable of driving economic growth and improving livelihoods.

He further outlined the revival of key economic sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture as part of the National Liberal Party’s broader agenda for the region.

According to him, strengthening farming, supporting local industries and creating employment opportunities for young people will be crucial in transforming Ukambani’s economy.
