NEDP Party Suspends All Meetings Amid Internal Disputes and Unauthorized Fundraising Claims

The National Economic Development Party (NEDP) leader Hon. Mike Mbuvi Sonko has announced the immediate suspension of all party meetings until further notice, citing internal organizational challenges and unauthorized activities being conducted in his name.
In an official statement dated May 22, 2026, Sonko warned party aspirants and members against attending any meetings allegedly organized under his authority, saying such gatherings are not genuine and have not received his approval.
The party leader accused certain individuals and officials within the party of using his name to mobilize members and legitimacy of ongoing party activities. “You are hereby notified that all party meetings have been suspended until further notice,” the statement read in part. “Any aspirants without authorization, raising concerns over the credibility and meetings being called using my name as Party Leader, Mike Mbuvi Sonko, are not genuine and are unauthorized.”

Sonko further revealed that the party is currently working on reorganizing its internal structures and mechanisms before resuming official operations. He urged members and aspirants to remain patient as the party resolves its internal matters.
The statement also raised alarm over alleged unauthorized fundraising activities being conducted in the name of the party. Sonko cautioned members against sending money to any till numbers, paybill accounts, or individuals claiming to collect funds on behalf of NEDP.

According to the party leader, he is unaware of the collections allegedly being conducted and noted that no proper accountability has been provided regarding the funds collected so far. “Those who have already sent money are advised to demand immediate refunds,” Sonko stated, emphasizing that the party does not support exploitation of members or aspirants through unauthorized financial contributions.

He maintained that any official communication concerning party matters or financial contributions will only be issued through the proper party communication channels directly under his authorization.
The latest development signals growing internal wrangles within the NEDP party as the country gradually approaches the 2027 political season, with aspirants and members now left awaiting further direction from the party leadership.
