EXPOSÉ: How Senior UDA Legislator Allegedly Planning to Disrupt Kalonzo Musyoka’s Kitui Tour

Kitui County is bracing for heightened political activity ahead of the rescheduled United Alternative Government “Meet the People” tour, as fresh claims have surfaced alleging a planned scheme by a legislator aligned to the ruling party United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to disrupt the upcoming opposition tour in Kitui County, raising tensions ahead of the high-profile opposition visit.
The two-day tour, which was initially scheduled for early April but postponed, is now set for April 22 and 23, 2026, and will be led by Wiper Patriotic Front party leader H.E Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka alongside a host of key opposition figures including former Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Eugene Wamalwa, Fred Matiang’i, Martha Karua and Justin Muturi among others.
However, reports exclusively obtained by Ukambani News Hub, the legislator is allegedly mobilizing efforts behind a plan to frustrate the opposition’s activities, particularly in Kitui South Constituency, one of the key stops in the rally.

According to the reports, the alleged plan includes groups of hired goons from neighbouring Kibwezi could be ferried to disrupt rallies and create chaos during the leaders’ stopovers. Further allegations indicate that political merchandise, including over 1,000 UDA-branded items, may be distributed to residents, particularly women with claims that beneficiaries could receive payments of up to Ksh. 500 to participate in the planned activities.
Additionally, intelligence reports suggest that hundreds of placards bearing hostile or cryptic messages targeting opposition leaders have already been prepared ahead of the visit.
The alleged plan comes in the wake of recent tensions witnessed during a burial ceremony in Ithumula, where similar accusations of political interference and orchestrated disruption were reported. During that incident, Ikanga/Kyatune Ward Wiper MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka, popularly known as Sonko, was reportedly targeted in a confrontation involving alleged hired goons said to have been ferried to the venue.

Security agencies have yet to issue a formal statement on the matter, though calls for heightened vigilance to ensure peaceful engagements during the tour.
The opposition tour is expected to traverse across seven constituencies in Kitui County, including Kitui West, Mwingi West, Mwingi Central, Kitui Central, Kitui East, Kitui Rural and Kitui South. Leaders are expected to engage residents on governance, economic concerns, and political reforms.
Below is the tour Schedule Highlights, Day One – Wednesday, April 22, 2026. The delegation will begin in Kitui West, making stops at Katutu (10:00AM) and Tulia Market (11:00AM), before proceeding to Mwingi West—Migwani (12:00PM), Thokoa (1:30PM) and Mbondoni (2:30PM). The day will conclude with a rally in Mwingi Town at 4:00PM.
