MP Kaki Nyamai’s Fake Opinion Polls Post Backfires as Kitui South Residents Troll Her Online

The embattled Kitui South Member of Parliament Rachael Kaki Nyamai has found herself at the centre of online criticism and public scrutiny after sharing what residents termed as a “fake and manipulated” opinion poll on her official Facebook page.

The third-term legislator, who has in recent years faced mounting criticism from sections of Kitui South residents over alleged poor development record, mismanagement of NG-CDF funds, corruption claims, and lack of effective representation, sparked fresh backlash after posting results of an alleged opinion poll showing her enjoying a 70.3% approval rating ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

According to information obtained by Ukambani News Hub, the entity behind the opinion poll was allegedly demanding up to Ksh. 50,000 from candidates in exchange for favourable rankings, raising questions over the credibility of the survey.

In the now controversial Facebook post, the MP confidently declared her intention to seek a fourth term in office, insisting that her leadership and development agenda remained unmatched in the constituency. “FOTAM in Kitui South is unstoppable for me! 💪🔥 I have faithfully served the people for 3 terms, and now I am heading for the 4thTAM stronger than ever. My leadership, development agenda, and commitment to the people speak for themselves. Current polls show I have a 70% chance of winning against all other competitors, a clear indication that the people of Kitui South still believe in my leadership, vision, and track record.

The journey continues. The mission remains the same: service, development, and progress for all.

Forward ever, backward never!” the post read.

However, instead of generating support, the post triggered an avalanche of criticism from angry residents who flooded the comments section expressing frustration and disappointment with the MP’s 15-year tenure.

Many voters openly vowed to vote her out in the upcoming 2027 elections, accusing her of overstaying in leadership without tangible development achievements.

Dominic Mwema commented, “Unataka kuserve 20 years kwani Kitui South hakuna mtu mwingine anaweza kuwa MP ama? Hata wewe umetuzoea sana, enda nyumbani peacefully.”

Damaris Munguti sarcastically wrote, “Ukavita îngî mwa Nika uthama Kitui South nye,” loosely translated to mean, “Incase she gets elected again I will just move out from Kitui South.”

Kyalo K. Charlie also joined the criticism saying, “Fotam na yule Mzee wa pale Miei Enzou hajazikwa? Wantam and we need change mambo ya FOTAM ni yenyu.”

Baraka Muthoka questioned the authenticity of the poll stating, “Anyone with a smartphone can generate this. This is not factual.”

The online roasting continued as Irene Kyungu remarked, “Vitu zingine mtume kwa simu zenu pekee,” while Joshua Jo questioned the MP’s development record saying, “For 3 terms what have you done to a school 2km from your UAE home called Nzouni Pri?”

Shaddy Mumo added, “She’s going home to decay there forever,” as Allan Mukiti sarcastically commented, “😂😂😂😂 This time round vayi kusua na meene, ukavaluka vesole kamundu 😂😂😂.”

Eldo Boy further reminded the MP of her support for the controversial Finance Bill, writing, “When I do remember you voted Finance Bill Yes, hata kama ni wewe ulisomesha my dear wangu yangu hupati imeenda na mtu mwingine.”

A section of the electorate also used the opportunity to publicly endorse Kitui County Chief Officer for Agriculture Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto as their preferred candidate for the Kitui South parliamentary seat in 2027.

OCS Stephen wrote, “Mami Gladys tosha,” while Leah Joseph echoed similar sentiments saying, “Mami tosha wacha weee.”

Another resident, Rhodah Rachael, commented, “Huyu mama anafanya nini huku🤣 Mami hadi State House,” as Joshua Mutisya boldly declared, “Kivoto will take you down.”

This publication has noted due to the intensity of the backlash, some of the harshest and most damaging comments directed at the MP were later deleted from the Facebook post by her social media handlers.

The incident has reignited political debate in Kitui South, with growing discussions around leadership change, credibility of online opinion polls, and the role of social media in shaping public opinion ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
