Kitui South incoming Member of Parliament, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto, on Thursday joined family, friends, and hundreds of residents in mourning the late Dickson Mwanzia Maleve, popularly known as Kawelu, during his burial ceremony held at Kyusyani Village in Kawelu Sub-location, Mutomo/Kibwea Ward.

The solemn ceremony brought together leaders, clergy, community members, and relatives who gathered to celebrate the life and legacy of a man widely respected for his contributions to both development and faith within Kitui South constituency and the country at large.

The late Dickson Mwanzia, who passed away at the age of 70, was a prominent contractor and building consultant  (Kawelu Construction Limited (KACC) credited with contributing to the construction of numerous projects across the country. His work left a lasting mark in the community, with many describing him as a skilled professional whose dedication helped shape local infrastructure and livelihoods.

In her condolence message, Hon. Gladys Kivoto described the late Mwanzia as a pillar in the community whose life was defined by service, humility, and generosity. She noted that his impact went beyond construction, highlighting his deep commitment to spiritual growth and community empowerment. “He was not only a builder of structures but also a builder of lives and faith,” she said, adding that his contributions to the church and society would be remembered for generations.

The late Mwanzia was eulogized as a devoted family man and a God-fearing individual who tirelessly supported church activities. For many years, he sponsored students pursuing theology, contributed to the establishment of new churches, and remained actively involved in strengthening faith-based initiatives within the community.

Speakers at the ceremony described him as a generous, selfless and a man of integrity, who dedicated much of his life to serving both God and humanity. His generosity and willingness to support community initiatives earned him admiration and respect across Mutomo/Kibwea Ward and beyond.

Other leaders who also attended the burial ceremony included former Cabinet Secretary Hon. Peninah Malonza and former Kitui South MP Hon. Mwangu Ivuti, who currently serves as a political advisor to Governor Dr. Julius Malombe.

The late Dickson Mwanzia Maleve will be remembered not only for his professional excellence but also for his compassion, humility, and unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
