Hon. Gladys Kivoto Condoles with Family of Catholic Catechist at Nguuni Village, Ikanga/Kyatune

Kitui South incoming Member of Parliament Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto on Friday, May 22, 2026 joined the family, church faithful and hundreds of residents during the solemn burial ceremony of the late Stephen Kiluma Kilungya at Nguuni Village in Ithumula Sub-location, Ikanga/Kyatune Ward.
The late Stephen Kiluma, who passed away at the age of 59, was serving as a catechist at St. Augustine Nguuni Catholic Church under St. Paul’s Ikanga Parish.

During the emotional send-off, the late catechist was eulogised as a God-fearing servant, humble community leader and devoted church minister who dedicated his life to spreading the Christian faith and serving the people with commitment and compassion.

Speaking during the burial ceremony, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto conveyed her heartfelt condolences to Stephen’s family, friends and the church fraternity, describing the late catechist as a selfless servant of God whose dedication and humility touched many lives within the community.

Hon. Kivoto noted that the late Stephen Kiluma played a significant role in nurturing spiritual growth and unity among residents, adding that his legacy of faith, leadership and service would continue to inspire generations.

The Kitui South parliamentary hopeful also offered financial support towards the education of Stephen’s children who are still in school, a gesture that was warmly received and applauded by mourners who attended the burial ceremony.

Hon. Mami Kivoto has continued to stand with the people of Kitui South during moments of grief, celebrations and community development activities, earning praise from residents for her close relationship with the grassroots.
The burial ceremony was also attended by Ikanga/Kyatune MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka Sonko, who equally condoled with the bereaved family and offered financial support to assist Stephen’s children in continuing with their education.
