Hon. Patrick Ng’ere Officially Declares His Bid for Mwingi West MP Seat in 2027

Tourism Fund Director Hon. Patrick Muthengi Ng’ere has officially declared his intention to contest the Mwingi West Constituency Parliamentary seat in the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Speaking during an interview on Akamba FM’s morning show on Wednesday, Hon. Ng’ere announced that he would be joining the already crowded race for the Mwingi West seat which has continued to attract several aspirants. “Because the pressure is now mounting, let me today declare that I have decided to run for the Mwingi West Constituency Parliamentary seat in 2027,” he stated.

When asked about a possible contest for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket against the incumbent MP Hon. Charles Ngusya Nguna (CNN), who recently joined the government, Hon. Ng’ere expressed confidence in his preparedness. “We are grateful that he has chosen to work with the government, but he has not yet declared the party he will use in 2027. If he decides to run under UDA, he is welcome, and I am fully prepared for the contest. The best candidate will win,” said Hon. Ng’ere.

Hon. Ng’ere, who in the 2022 general elections stepped down in favour of another UDA candidate, Hon. Mwangangi Alex Wambua, affirmed that this time he is more determined than ever to vie for the Mwingi West seat and prepared to take on all contenders.

The Mwingi West MP race has already drawn significant interest, with several aspirants declaring their intentions. Among them is the sitting MP, Hon. Charles Ngusya Nguna (CNN), who is seeking for re-election for the third term in office and Hon. Patrick Muthengi Ng’ere (Tourism Fund Director), both aligned with the government side, as well as Hon. Patrick Koki Musau (Kuvasila) and Eng. Jonathan Ngenga, who are expected to contest for the Wiper Patriotic Front ticket, among other aspirants.

With the entry of Hon. Ng’ere, the Mwingi West race is shaping up to be one of the most competitive contests in Kitui County ahead of the 2027 general elections.
