The team also inspected the ongoing works at the Ithookwe Stadium, a 10,000-seater facility that will host this year’s Mashujaa Day festivities. The stadium, which has so far created over 2,000 jobs, is not only expected to provide a modern venue for sports and cultural events but also generate long-term economic opportunities for the county.

In addition, the delegation visited the Affordable Housing Project currently underway in Kitui. The development will deliver 166 housing units upon completion and has already provided employment opportunities to more than 200 residents, contributing to the government’s affordable housing agenda.

The day’s inspection tour concluded at the Umaa Dam project, a critical initiative aimed at addressing water scarcity in the region. Once completed, the dam will supply clean water to more than 75,000 households, significantly improving livelihoods and boosting agricultural production across the county.

Speaking during the tour, PS Mueke reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the timely completion of all projects ahead of the celebrations, noting that the initiatives would leave a lasting legacy for the people of Kitui.
