Kitui County gubernatorial aspirant Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu has continued to demonstrate her growing popularity and political strength across the county after receiving a massive reception from residents of Voo/Kyamatu Ward during the first day of her Ziara Mashinani – Meet the People Tour in Kitui East Constituency.

Hundreds of enthusiastic residents turned up to welcome the Kitui County Woman Representative, a clear indication of the confidence many people have in her leadership and vision for the county ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

The warm reception witnessed in both Voo and Kyamatu centres underscored Dr. Kasalu’s increasing grassroots support as she seeks to succeed Governor Dr. Julius Malombe as the next Governor of Kitui County.

Addressing residents during the tour, Dr. Kasalu reiterated her commitment to inclusive development, economic empowerment, and improving the livelihoods of Kitui residents across all the county’s 40 wards. She emphasized the need for leaders who are accessible to the people and understand the challenges facing communities at the grassroots level.

In a move aimed at supporting community development and economic growth, Dr. Kasalu extended several empowerment initiatives during her visit. In Voo, she donated a cheque worth Ksh. 150,000 to a local Community-Based Organization (CBO) and further provided a 100-seater tent alongside 100 chairs to support community activities.

At Kyamatu, she donated another tent and 100 chairs to benefit local residents. She also issued a cheque worth Ksh. 80,000 to boda boda groups to boost their economic activities and an additional cheque of Ksh. 150,000 to a local CBO as part of her continued efforts to support community-driven development projects.

Residents who attended the meetings praised Dr. Kasalu for maintaining close ties with the people and for consistently championing empowerment programs across the county. Many described her as a courageous, determined, and development-oriented leader capable of transforming Kitui and accelerating service delivery.

Today’s impressive turnout in Voo/Kyamatu is a strong indication of Dr. Kasalu’s growing influence and acceptance among voters as the race for the 2027 gubernatorial seat gradually gathers momentum.

Her Ziara Mashinani tour in Kitui East is expected to continue tomorrow on Wednesday when she visits Endau/Malalani Ward. The itinerary includes stops at Makuka, Malalani, and Endau Town, where she is expected to engage residents and listen to their development priorities.

As the county’s political landscape continues to take shape ahead of 2027, Dr. Irene Kasalu’s ability to mobilize large crowds and connect with grassroots communities is increasingly positioning her as the leading contender in the race to become the next Governor of Kitui County.
