Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu Hosts Kitui County University and College Students at Parliament Buildings
On Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, Kitui County Woman Representative and 2027 gubernatorial aspirant, Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu, hosted university and college students from Kitui County at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.
The students, drawn from various universities and colleges under the Kitui County University and College Students Association (KUCSA) and led by their president, John Mbusyo, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Irene Kasalu. The meeting focused on the critical role of youth in leadership, where the students shared their perspectives on governance, development, and empowerment.

In her address, Dr. Kasalu emphasized the importance of amplifying the voices of young leaders and pledged her continued support in mentoring and guiding them. “Young people are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are leaders of today, and their voice must be at the center of shaping the future of our nation. I remain committed to walking with our young leaders as they rise, innovate, and influence the path of our country’s future,” she stated.

Dr. Kasalu, currently serving her second term as Kitui County Woman Representative, has earned the trust of her constituents through her proven leadership and advocacy for women, youth, and community development.
As she nears the end of her third term in Parliament, Dr. Kasalu has set her sights on the county’s top seat in 2027, aiming to become the third Governor of Kitui County. With a solid track record and strong grassroots support, she is widely viewed as a frontrunner to succeed Governor Julius Malombe upon the completion of his second term.

The engagement with KUCSA further underlined Dr. Kasalu’s commitment to nurturing young leaders and ensuring their voices remain central in shaping both the future of Kitui and Kenya at large.
