Hon. Makali Mulu Denies Claims of Having Child Outside Wedlock

Kitui Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, has strongly denied allegations circulating on social media claiming that he fathered a child with his house manager and neglected both the mother and the child.

The claims surfaced earlier this week after a well-known social media blogger, Maverick Aoko, published allegations on her Facebook page that the legislator had impregnated his house maid and neglected to take care of the kid.

Speaking exclusively to Ukambani News Hub reporter at his office in Kitui Town, Hon. Makali dismissed the allegations, reaffirming his respect for women and his commitment to family values. “I want to clearly state that I respect women very much. I am a family man, and I do not have any child with anyone outside my family, and any child associated with my name stays in my home,” he said.

The MP further challenged anyone who believes she has a child with him to come forward, emphasizing his willingness to take responsibility. “I want to ask any woman in Kitui, Kenya, or anywhere in the world who feels she has my biological child to bring the child to my home, and I will take care of them alongside my other children,” Hon. Makali stated.

Hon. Mulu said he had already discussed the matter with his wife and children, emphasizing his long-standing commitment to supporting children’s welfare through both public and personal initiatives. He noted that through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) and his own resources, he has supported the education of many needy children. “I support and educate many children through NG-CDF and even with my own resources, children whose parents I don’t even know. How then could I neglect my own child?” he posed.

Hon. Makali dismissed the allegations as politically motivated propaganda aimed at damaging his reputation, particularly as political competition intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election in which he has declared interest in contesting for the Kitui gubernatorial seat. “I want to warn my opponents who think they can use propaganda to bring me down that they should prepare for a tough political contest,” he said.

The legislator added that despite being aware of political propaganda tactics, he has chosen not to engage in such practices against his opponents.

He also indicated that he has no intention of pursuing legal action against those spreading the claims, saying such a move could be misinterpreted as an attempt to intimidate critics. “I know my opponents are trying to provoke me into filing a court case so they can claim I am using my powers to oppress others. I will not fall into that trap,” he said.

Hon. Makali Mulu has already declared his interest in contesting the Kitui County gubernatorial seat in the 2027 General Election. He is expected to face competition from several leaders within the Wiper Party and beyond, including Kitui Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu, Senator Enoch Kiio Wambua, former Governor Hon. Charity Ngilu, and Hon. Nicholas Mulila, among others.
