Masaa Ni Ya Ngilu: Hon. Charity Ngilu Takes Kavisuni and Kanyangi by Storm

Former Kitui County Governor Hon. Charity Kaluki Ngilu on Saturday, August 30, received a rousing welcome during her tour of Kavisuni and Kanyangi in Kitui Rural Constituency. The former county boss, who has already declared her intention to reclaim the governorship in 2027, attracted large crowds in both markets where residents pledged their support for her comeback bid.

Ngilu’s visit came a day after she toured Mutha Ward in Kitui South, where she extended humanitarian support to families of Thangilani village, Musenge location. The families had been left homeless after suspected camel herders torched their houses as well as their food granaries. During her visit, Ngilu donated food stuffs, clothes, and school materials including exercise books, pens, and pencils so that children could continue with their studies despite the crisis. She later addressed a mammoth gathering at Mutha market, where crowds came out in their numbers to welcome her.

Of particular note was the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), which she said had employed over 1,000 youths before being left to near-collapse under the current leadership. Ngilu assured the people that, once re-elected, she would not only revive KICOTEC but also roll out more industries and initiatives to create jobs for Kitui residents.
