The Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF) has officially unveiled Anthony Kisoi as its candidate for the Mumbuni North Ward by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.
The endorsement was announced at SKM Command Centre and announced by WPF party leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka who underscored the party’s determination to consolidate political influence in the Lower Eastern region and extend its footprint nationally.
The by-election was triggered by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s (IEBC) declaration of nine vacant MCA seats on August 14, 2025, sparking heightened political realignments across the country.
Governor Ndeti took to her social media pages and rallied Mumbuni residents to throw their weight behind Kisoi, describing him as a man of integrity with a strong record of service to the community.
“To the people of Mumbuni North Ward, our party, Wiper Patriotic Front, has unveiled Anthony Kisoi as the candidate for the upcoming by-election. Let’s rally behind him because his victory is not just his alone; it’s a win for our party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, and a proud triumph for the entire Kamba community,” she stated on X formerly Twitter.

Ndeti went on to congratulate Kisoi, praising his dedication to public service and values that align with Wiper’s vision.
“Congratulations to Anthony Kyalo Kisoi on being officially unveiled as the Wiper Patriotic Front candidate for the upcoming Mumbuni North Ward by-election. Your track record of service, integrity, and dedication truly reflects the leadership our community deserves,” read her message.

Kisoi’s endorsement comes at a time when WPF is actively rebranding to strengthen its appeal ahead of the 2027 general election. The party, formerly known as the Wiper Democratic Movement, recently reintroduced itself as the Wiper Patriotic Front under the slogan #KomboaKenya, symbolising liberation, inclusivity, and a renewed vision for governance.
Party leader and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka recently bolstered the National Executive Council (NEC) by appointing media and youth development expert Gor Semelang’o, a move he described as crucial to engaging Kenya’s youthful population.
Meanwhile, shifting political alliances continue to shape the contest. Parliamentary Service Commissioner Johnson Muthama, a former Machakos Senator and key figure in the ruling UDA, has hinted at the possibility of backing Kalonzo’s 2027 presidential bid on condition that he secures the opposition coalition’s ticket.
“Let him first get the certificate, and if he comes over with it, then I will tell you which direction to take,” Muthama said when attended a service at St. Joseph Catholic Kyangwithya, Kitui Central Constituency on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

As the by-election nears, WPF is framing the Mumbuni North contest as a crucial litmus test for its renewed strategy. With Kisoi on the ballot, Semelang’o energising the NEC, and potential heavyweight support from Muthama, the party is betting on regional dominance to project national relevance in the coming political battles.
