HON. GLADYS MAMI KIVOTO FACILITATES OVER 40 PWDs FROM IKANGA/KYATUNE TO BENEFIT FROM HOPE MOBILITY KENYA PROGRAMME

Kitui South incoming Member of Parliament Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto on Wednesday facilitated the participation of more than 40 Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs) from Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in a transformative disability support programme being conducted in  Kitui Town.

The three-day programme, organized by Hope Mobility Kenya in partnership with the County Government of Kitui, was officially launched on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Agriculture Training Centre (ATC) in Kitui and is set to run until Thursday June 18.

The initiative aims to improve the lives of Persons Living with Disabilities in Kitui County by providing comprehensive mobility assessments, assistive device fitting, and disability inclusion training. Beneficiaries are receiving essential mobility aids such as wheelchairs, walking sticks, crutches, and other assistive devices tailored to their specific needs.

Through her support and commitment to community empowerment, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto facilitated the transportation and participation of over 40 beneficiaries from Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, ensuring they accessed the life-changing services being offered during the exercise.

The programme has attracted hundreds of participants from different parts of Kitui County, including children, adults, and elderly persons living with disabilities, all seeking assistance to enhance their mobility and independence.

Speaking during the exercise, Hon. Mami Kivoto expressed her gratitude and joy at witnessing the positive impact the programme was having on the lives of the beneficiaries. “It is encouraging to witness people living with disabilities receive support that will enable them to move more freely and participate fully in society. Programmes like these play a critical role in promoting inclusion and improving livelihoods,” she said.

She further commended Hope Mobility Kenya and the County Government of Kitui for their commitment to supporting vulnerable members of society and ensuring that no one is left behind.

Hope Mobility Kenya has been implementing similar programmes across the country, targeting Persons Living with Disabilities through the provision of assistive devices, rehabilitation services, and disability inclusion awareness initiatives

Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto has consistently been at the forefront of advocating for the welfare of vulnerable groups and the elderly in Kitui South. Her efforts continue to focus on promoting inclusivity, and improving access to essential services.

Beneficiaries and their families expressed their appreciation for the programme, noting that the assistive devices and training would significantly improve their daily lives.
