Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto Wins Hearts of Ikanga Residents as She Stands with Queen Masila’s Family During BM’s Burial
Kitui South constituency incoming Member of Parliament Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto on Friday 19, June 2026, joined hundreds of mourners, leaders, clergy and family members in mourning the late Brian Wambua Masila, popularly known as BM, during his burial ceremony held at Ilusya Village in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward.
The late BM lost his life in a tragic road accident that occurred on June 4, 2026, just a few metres from their home, leaving behind a young family, including his wife and a three-year-old daughter.

The emotional ceremony brought together residents from across Kitui South who gathered to pay their last respects to the young man whose life was cut short at the prime of his youth.
Speakers at the burial described BM as a cheerful, humble and hardworking individual who was deeply committed to his family and community. He was also remembered for his passion for agriculture and environmental conservation, with mourners noting that he had planted numerous trees and actively engaged in farming activities.
Addressing mourners, Hon. Mami Kivoto recounted the events surrounding the night of the accident, revealing how she rushed to Ikanga Hospital after receiving a distress call from BM’s mother, Queen Masila. “I remember receiving a call from Queen at around 12:30 a.m. informing me about BM’s accident. Since she was away from home, I immediately travelled from Kitui to Ikanga Hospital to check on him and ensure he received the necessary support and medication. Unfortunately, we later lost him the same night,” she said.
Her remarks drew an emotional response from mourners as she extended her condolences to the bereaved family and encouraged them to remain strong during the difficult period.
Hon. Mami Kivoto also reaffirmed her commitment to serving the people of Kitui South with compassion, dedication, and humility. She pledged to continue walking alongside the community and championing their welfare if elected as the area MP in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
The late BM was eulogised as a kind-hearted and sociable young man whose positive attitude earned him admiration from many people within and beyond Ilusya village and Ikanga at large.
Hon. Mami Kivoto has been praised for standing with the people of Kitui South during moments of grief and other community challenges, describing her as a leader who remains accessible to the common wananchi.
The burial ceremony was also attended by a host of leaders and dignitaries, among them Kitui Central MP Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, Ikanga/Kyatune Ward MCA Hon. Cyrus Musyoka Sonko, Waziri Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, Jane Kibati, Fridah Makasi, Mary Matiti, and Kyangwithya East Ward MCA Hon. Boniface Katumbi, alongside other local leaders and community members who turned up to pay their final respects.
