Kitui County Woman Representative, Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu, on her way to condole with the family of former Zombe/Mwitika Ward MCA Hon. Eunice Mwathi Katheke, found her convoy stopped by enthusiastic youths in Zombe Town, Kitui East Constituency.

Dr. Irene Kasalu, who was heading to condole with the family of former Zombe/Mwitika Ward MCA Hon. Eunice Mwathi, was received by energetic youths who demanded that she speak to them first. Their excitement underscored her growing popularity in Kitui East Constituency.

In her address to the youths at Zombe Town , Hon. Dr. Kasalu reassured the youth that her administration will put them first once she is elected governor in 2027.

“Thank you for warmly receiving me. I want to assure the youths and the Boda Boda community of Zombe that I will stand with you fully. Through your organized groups, I will support you by setting up a car wash project so that you can start generating income as soon as possible. And I promise that when I become the governor, I will work closely with you to ensure you get the services you deserve. In my administration, I will create more job opportunities for the youths of Kitui,” she affirmed, earning applause from the crowd.

After addressing the residents of Zombe, Dr. Kasalu proceeded to the home of Hon. Eunice Mwathi, who recently lost her only son, where she offered her heartfelt condolences and stood in solidarity with the family during their difficult time.

Dr. Irene Kasalu has already declared her interest in succeeding Governor Julius Malombe in the 2027 general elections. Her increasing grassroots presence and strong political base, in the entire Kitui County, continue to position her as a formidable contender for the county’s top seat.

Kitui East remains one of her strongholds, and the enthusiastic reception in Zombe Town is yet another indication of the overwhelming support she commands among Kitui residents, cementing her reputation as a people-centered leader and a strong favourite for the 2027 Kitui gubernatorial race.

Hon. Irene Kasalu was accompanied by key local leaders and respected community figures during her visit. Among them was Zombe/Mwitika MCA, Hon. Malinga Munyao, who represents the area in the County Assembly, Hon. Kasivu, a former councillor of Zombe/Mwitika, and Mr. Mwanzia, the former Kitui County KEPSHA Chairman. Also present was Hon. Sindano, former MCA Endau/Malalani.
