Yatta Constituency 2027 MP aspirant Hon. Annastacia Muthini Muendo has voiced strong concerns over the rising number of tragic road accidents along the dangerous stretch between Green Park and Small World on Mombasa Road, describing it as a “black spot” that continues to claim innocent lives.

Her remarks come just a day after a grisly road accident at Green Park, Athi River, claimed the life of renowned Makueni businessman Dennis Kasyoki, who died instantly after his car was run over by a trailer that lost control.

Taking to her social media pages, Hon. Muendo expressed outrage at the responsible authorities, particularly the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA), accusing them of negligence in failing to fix the road despite numerous lives lost.

“How many more lives are we going to lose along the stretch between Green Park and Small World for KENHA to act? We have had a contractor there since 2016! There is poor road diversion, no road signs, and a pothole that has been there for the longest time. That place is a black spot and KENHA ought to act. We have lost many lives so far it MUST stop! Otherwise, tutafunga hio barabara!” she lamented.

Hon. Muendo further pointed out that Kasyoki’s death was not an isolated case, recalling other tragic incidents including the fatal crash that claimed Johnson Nzioka, the National Chairman of the Kenya Primary School Heads Association (KEPSHA), in February 2025, as well as the deaths of the late Musembi and a KNUT official around the same stretch.

In the emotional post, she decried the continued loss of lives due to what she termed “simple but ignored issues” such as missing road signs, poor diversions, and unrepaired potholes.

In a bold move, Hon. Muendo threatened to mobilize mass demonstrations and block the road if urgent safety measures are not taken, demanding that KENHA address the long-standing hazards. “That place is a black spot and KENHA ought to act. We have lost many lives so far it MUST stop! Otherwise, tutafunga hio barabara!”

At the same time, she called out Machakos Governor Hon. Wavinya Ndeti, criticizing her silence despite the repeated tragedies within the county. “Hon. Wavinya Ndeti, your silence on this matter is wanting,” she declared.

Hon. Muendo’s remarks have reignited pressure on both KENHA and the county leadership to take immediate corrective action on the Green Park–Small World stretch before more lives are lost.
