Machakos County Governor H.E. Wavinya Ndeti today hosted the newly crowned National Secondary School Volleyball Champions, the Kwanthanze Secondary School Girls Team, in celebration of their outstanding performance during this year’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) 2025 Term 2 Ball Games.

The girls from Kwanthanze Secondary School, based in Kathiani Sub-county, have long been a dominant force in school volleyball in Kenya. This year, they reaffirmed their national supremacy after a resounding 3-0 victory over Kesogon Girls from Rift Valley in the finals held in Kakamega. Kwanthanze Girls delivered a flawless performance in the championship match, winning in straight sets:

Set 1: 25-17

Set 2: 25-06

Set 3: 25-16

The win secured them the 2025 National Volleyball Championship title, continuing their remarkable streak in the sport and further cementing their legacy in Kenyan school volleyball.

In a heartfelt message shared on her official social media platforms, Governor Wavinya Ndeti congratulated the team, commending their dedication, teamwork, and excellence. “Congratulations to the Kwanthanze Secondary School Girls Volleyball Team on their remarkable victory at the National Secondary School Volleyball Championships in Kakamega, making Machakos and Kenya proud,” wrote the Governor.

“As you prepare to represent our nation at the East African Secondary School Ball Games, to be held at Kakamega High School, I wish you even more outstanding achievements. Go make history and fly our flag high,” she added.

Governor Ndeti reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to nurturing and supporting youth talent in sports and beyond.

“I remain committed to supporting and celebrating the excellence of our young talents,” she added.

With their national victory secured, Kwanthanze Girls now turn their focus to the East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games, set to take place from August 14th to 24th, 2025, also in Kakamega. They will represent Kenya and compete against top school teams from countries across the East African region, including Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Burundi.
