Baseless Propaganda: Governor Malombe Not Fronting His County Officials for 2027
The allegations that Governor H.E Dr. Julius Malombe is working to weaken the Wiper Patriotic Front ahead of the 2027 elections are nothing but propaganda, politically engineered by a few failed leadership rejects who feel threatened by the rising influence of their potential opponents, many of whom are county government officials serving under Dr. Malombe’s administration.
Since assuming office in 2022, Governor Malombe has spearheaded over 2,244 development projects and programmes across all 40 wards and 247 villages of Kitui County. Among these are two flagship initiatives: the Kangu Kangu Water Project in Kitui South, set for launch this month, and the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park at Kanyonyoo in Kitui Rural, a partnership between the Kitui County Government and the national government.

Claims that Dr. Malombe, who also serves as the Kitui County Chairman of the Wiper Patriotic Front, is positioning some of his officers for elective seats in 2027 are pure lies. These baseless narratives are being pushed by individuals fearful of losing their positions due to their own failed leadership.
During the ongoing Consultative retreat between Kitui County Executive and the County Assembly in Mombasa, Kitui County Speaker Kinengo Katisya who refers to himself as a lawyer, criticized county officials rumoured to be eyeing elective seats in 2027, arguing it was “too early” for campaigns. Governor Malombe firmly dismissed his claims, reminding him that politics is about preparedness and that starting early is not unusual.

Across Kenya, numerous national and county officials with political ambitions have already begun laying their groundwork for 2027. Yet in Kitui, the spotlight has unfairly been cast on just one officer, Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries, Gladys Mami Kivoto. Despite never publicly declaring interest in any elective seat, she has been maliciously branded a “cartel” and accused of corruption, simply for executing her mandate.
Her detractors have gone further, alleging that Governor Malombe and former Kitui South MP Hon. Mwangu Ivuti are fronting her as Wiper’s preferred candidate for the Kitui South parliamentary race. These are nothing but baseless and politically motivated claims.
Governor Malombe remains firmly focused on delivering his 16-Point Development Agenda under the landmark blueprint, “The Kitui Promise.” His leadership continues to transform Kitui County through tangible projects, not empty political theatrics.
