Kitui Officer Turns to Music to Welcome President Ruto Ahead of Mashujaa Day Celebrations

As preparations heighten for the 2025 Mashujaa Day celebrations set to take place in Kitui County on October 20, a local officer has found a creative and heartfelt way to mark the national occasion through music.

Cecilia Titus, a dedicated prison’s officer based in Kitui, has composed and released a touching song welcoming President William Ruto to Kitui. Her composition not only celebrates Kenya’s heroes but also calls for peace, unity, and patriotism among citizens.

In her melodic tribute, Ms. Titus highlights several development projects implemented under the Ruto administration in the region, including initiatives in infrastructure, education, water access, and youth empowerment. She says the song is her way of appreciating national leadership while reflecting Kitui’s warmth and hospitality as the host county for this year’s celebrations.

“My inspiration to join the Prison Service came from a deep desire to serve my country and make a positive difference in people’s lives,” Ms. Titus shared in an interview. “I believe in rehabilitation and second chances, and the service allows me to help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.”

Many see her gesture as a reflection of the pride and excitement felt across Kitui as the county prepares to host one of Kenya’s most important national holidays.
