Hon. Irene Kasalu Throws Big Challenge at Her Gubernatorial Rivals, Urges Support for Kalonzo’s 2027 Presidential Bid
As the race to succeed Governor Julius Malombe in 2027 begins to gather momentum, Kitui County super Woman Representative Hon. Dr. Irene Kasalu has openly challenged her political rivals, especially those within the Wiper Patriotic Front, who have declared interest in the gubernatorial seat.

Speaking during the burial ceremony of the late Magdalene Kanyiva Musili, who passed away at the blessed age of 104, held at Kitunduni village in Matinyani Ward, Kitui West Constituency, Dr. Kasalu urged her competitors to set aside their ambitions and instead throw their weight behind Wiper party leader H.E. Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka as he prepares for his 2027 presidential bid.
“When a father goes hunting, the men follow him for hunting while women remain at home to take care of the family,” Kasalu remarked. “So, these men I am competing with should go and help our party leader Kalonzo in winning the presidency. They should be on the ground, moving across the country, in supporting our party leader, who is preparing to become the 6th President of Kenya.” She added.

The outspoken Woman Rep went on to remind Kitui residents that her bid is grounded on her record of service and development. Asking her 2027 gubernatorial bid be judged based on her performance and development record she has done over the two terms she has served as County Woman Rep. “I am fully committed to work for the people of Kitui County, and I’m urging you to judge me with my track record in 2027. On that basis, I humbly ask you to elect me as your governor,” she said.
Hon. Irene Kasalu emphasized her readiness and determination to take over the mantle from Governor Malombe and steer the county to greater heights. “I want to say I’m very much prepared to lead Kitui County as the next governor. What I ask from you is your prayers and, when the time comes, your vote,” she appealed.

Hon. Kasalu has positioned herself as a people-centered leader, and a frontrunner in the 2027 gubernatorial race on a Wiper ticket, enjoying grassroots support across Kitui.
She was accompanied by Matinyani Ward MCA, Hon. Sylvester Kitheka Munyalo, popularly known as ‘Yaamu,’ who commended her for the impressive work she has been doing as Kitui County Woman Representative, as well as Hon. Vincent Mutua, the Kitui West Constituency MP aspirant, among other leaders.
