CS Geoffrey Ruku, Commissioner Benedict Muasya Distribute Over 2,000 Bags of Relief Food in Kitui West Constituency

Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes, Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku, alongside Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) Commissioner Benedict Muasya, on Wednesday April 1, 2026, led the distribution of over 2,000 bags of relief food to the residents of Kitui west constituency.
The exercise, held at Kitui west Sub-county’s Deputy County Commissioner’s offices, targeted over 12,000 vulnerable families and communities grappling with food shortages. The initiative forms part of the government’s broader intervention measures aimed at cushioning Kenyans from the adverse effects of prolonged dry conditions and economic hardships, while reaffirming its commitment to food security.

Speaking during the event, CS Ruku emphasized the government’s long-term strategy to address food insecurity in the country. He noted that beyond emergency relief, the administration is investing heavily in sustainable solutions such as research, innovation, and irrigation infrastructure to boost agricultural productivity. “The government is committed to enhancing food security through strategic investments that will ensure our country produces enough food for its people,” said Ruku. “The National Infrastructure Fund will play a critical role in supporting large-scale projects that will transform the agricultural sector.”

He further assured residents that the government has secured sufficient food supplies to continue supporting vulnerable households across the country, even as it rolls out long-term solutions.

On his address, Commissioner Muasya called on residents of Kitui and the larger Ukambani region to rally behind the Kenya Kwanza administration under President William Ruto. He underscored the importance of unity and collaboration in ensuring development reaches all regions.
Muasya reaffirmed his personal commitment to advocating for the welfare of Kitui West residents, stating that leadership must translate into tangible benefits for the people. “I cannot be in government while my people back home suffer from hunger. I know the government has food, and I will continue to lobby for such support to reach you,” he said.

During the distribution, each household received a 10-kilogram package consisting of 7 kilograms of rice and 3 kilograms of beans, providing immediate relief to hundreds of families.

Commissioner Muasya has remained at the forefront in championing development and humanitarian interventions in Kitui West Constituency, consistently working to ensure that government support reaches those most in need.
The exercise was warmly welcomed by residents, many of whom expressed gratitude for the timely intervention, noting that it would go a long way in alleviating hunger and supporting livelihoods in the constituency.

The event was attended by several leaders, among them State House Coordination Director Boniface Musambi, Deputy Ambassador to China Linet Ndile, Esther Ndile, and other notable dignitaries.
