Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto Meets Over 80 JSS Teachers, Pledge Support for Her 2027 Kitui South MP Bid

Kitui South incoming Member of Parliament Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto has continued to strengthen her grassroots engagement as today on Friday June 26, 2026, met more than 80 Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers from Kitui South Constituency during a three-day teachers’ professional training programme held at Mulango.

The training brought together over 500 teachers drawn from 9 education zones across the larger Kitui region. The participants, who specialize in Mathematics and Science-related subjects, underwent training on the use of virtual laboratories as an alternative to conventional science laboratories as well as integrating virtual laboratory technology into lesson planning to enhance learning in schools with limited access to physical science laboratories.

Addressing the teachers, Hon. Mami Kivoto reaffirmed her commitment to championing the welfare of teachers and improving education standards in Kitui South if elected as the constituency’s next Member of Parliament in the 2027 General Election.

She said teachers play a vital role in shaping the future of the constituency and pledged to work closely with education stakeholders to ensure their concerns are addressed while also pushing for development initiatives that will benefit residents. “Our teachers are the backbone of our education system. They deserve leaders who will listen to them, support their work and advocate for better learning opportunities for our children,” she said.

Several teachers who attended the meeting expressed their support for Hon. Mami Kivoto’s parliamentary bid, saying they were seeking a new style of leadership that prioritizes development, inclusivity and service delivery to the common mwananchi.

Some of the educators cited what they described as inadequate development and ineffective representation over the years, arguing that Kitui South constituency requires fresh leadership to unlock its development potential.

Hon. Mami Kivoto’s continued engagement with professionals, youth, women, elders and community groups has contributed to her growing popularity across all 6 wards of Kitui South constituency as she continues to intensify her political engagements ahead of the 2027 elections.
