Kitui County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Health and Sanitation Ruth Koki, super Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries Gladys Mami Kivoto on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, represented Governor Dr. Julius Malombe at the burial ceremony of the late Fredrick Mutua Mbuvi, popularly known as Mbusya, held at Tumyaaloni Village in Mulango Ward, Kitui Central Constituency.

The county delegation, which attended the solemn event on behalf of the governor, was led by CECM Ruth Koki and included Chief Officers Gladys Mami Kivoto, Nason Kang’alya, Paul Monyi, and Governor’s political advisor Hon. Mwangu Ivuti alongside other county government officials.

The late Fredrick Mutua, who passed away at the age of 80, was eulogised as a generous, humble and development-oriented elder who devoted his life to serving the community. Family, friends and leaders described him as a pillar of progress and a generous person who donated parcels of land for the construction of schools, churches, and other community institutions, initiatives that significantly improved access to essential services and fostered social cohesion in the area.

The late Mzee Mutua was the father of Sammy Nzukie, an officer serving in the Department of Gender, Youth, Sports and Culture in the County Government of Kitui.

In her address while delivering the Governor’s message of condolence, waziri Ruth Koki conveyed Governor Malombe’s heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. She explained that the Governor had intended to attend the burial in person but was away in Mombasa attending a week-long Council of Governors meeting. “The Governor asked me together with my colleagues here to pass his sincere condolences to the family of Mzee Mutua and the people of Mulango Ward. He stands with you during this difficult time and recognizes the immense contribution the late Mzee made to this community,” she said.

Chief Officer for Gender, Sports Youths and Culture Nason Kang’alya, in his address, described the late Mutua as a pillar of unity and development whose generosity demonstrated true leadership at the grassroots level. He urged residents to emulate his spirit of service and commitment to community development.

CO Gladys Kivoto also paid tribute to the departed elder, noting that his life was a testament to the power of giving and community empowerment. She encouraged the family to find comfort in the impactful life he lived and the values he instilled in those around him.

The burial ceremony drew hundreds of mourners, including religious leaders, professionals and residents, who turned up to celebrate the life of a man widely regarded as a cornerstone of development in Mulango Ward.
