President William Ruto’s 4-Day Ukambani Region Development Tour Schedule Unveiled
After months of anticipation and several postponements, President Dr. William Ruto is finally set to embark on a comprehensive development tour of the Ukambani region, his first since assuming office in 2022.
The long-awaited visit follows a high-level consultative meeting held at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, October 10th, between President Ruto and elected leaders as well as his government appointees from Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni counties. During the meeting, the President confirmed his multi-county development itinerary, signaling his administration’s renewed focus on infrastructure and economic transformation in the Ukambani region.

Initially planned for June 2025, the visit was postponed due to heightened political tension in the region at the time and later rescheduled for July/August before being deferred once more. The confirmation of new dates has now set the stage for what is expected to be a milestone development engagement across Ukambani.
Day 1: Wednesday, October 15 – Kitui and Machakos Counties
President Ruto’s first stop will be at Zombe Town in Kitui East Constituency, Kitui County, where he will officially launch the tarmacking of the Zombe–Chuluni Road a key infrastructure project aimed at boosting local connectivity and trade and the opening of the Kitui East Huduma Centre
He will then proceed to Mwingi West Constituency to inaugurate the Kwa Siku–Migwani–Mbondoni Road Project before heading to Machakos County to launch the Kangundo–Mwala Road, marking the close of his first day in the region.

Day 2: Friday, October 17 – Makueni and Kitui Counties
On the second day, the Head of State will begin his tour in Kibwezi West Constituency, Makueni County, where he will launch the Emali–Ukia Road tarmacking project.
President Ruto will then return to Kitui County for the tarmacking launch of the Ikutha–Mutha Road in Kitui South Constituency, followed by a visit to Kitui Central, where he will inspect the Affordable Housing Project.

The day will culminate with the official opening of the 10,000-seater Ithookwe Stadium, the venue set to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations on October 20th.
Day 3: Tuesday, October 21 – Makueni and Machakos Counties
Following the Mashujaa Day celebrations, President Ruto will continue his tour in Makueni County, inspecting the Wote Affordable Housing Project before proceeding to Mwala in Machakos County to launch the Kivandini–Miseleni Road and Mwala Cluster Water Project.

Later in the day, he will commission the Machakos Affordable Housing Programme and Mutituni Market in Machakos Town, underscoring his administration’s focus on housing and market infrastructure.
