Hon. Dennis Syengo Announces Half-Million Shilling 2nd Edition of the Eng. Dennis Syengo Super Cup Youth Tournament in Mulango Ward
Mulango Ward is gearing up for an exciting December sporting season as Hon. Eng. Dennis Syengo, widely seen as the strongest contender for the Mulango Ward MCA seat in 2027, unveils the 2nd edition of the Eng. Dennis Syengo Super Cup 2025 which is set to kick off on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with the finals scheduled for Friday, December 26, 2025.

Billed as the biggest youth sports event ever held in the ward, this year’s tournament will feature 28 football teams and 6 volleyball teams for the ladies from across the ward. Participating football clubs include Wikililye FC, Ivuku FC, Kyandui FC, Kikuumini FC, Kathukini FC, Yakalia FC, Kamale FC, Mulango FC, Ndetani FC, Kangalu FC, Kamuti FC, Maaini FC, Kiimani FC, Kyangunga FC, Kyambiti FC, Kitundu FC, Kanyumu FC, Kathungi FC, Nzunguni FC, Kisekine FC, Maamani FC, Mithongo FC, Kaumba FC, Jiji FC, Wii FC, Katulani FC, and Kavoko FC, with matches scheduled to be played across Yakalia, Kangalu, Kathungi, and Yumbisye grounds.

The tournament comes on the heels of a successful inaugural edition held last year with a budget of Ksh 300,000. This year, Eng. Syengo has almost doubled the budget to over Ksh 500,000, making the tournament the most ambitious grassroots competition in Mulango ward, reflecting growing enthusiasm from the community and continued confidence in his leadership initiatives.

Defending champions Kyandui FC from Wii will be seeking to retain their title though they are expected to face stiff competition. Wikililye FC is already being singled out as one of the strongest and most disciplined contenders in this year’s edition, while Ivuku FC is expected to leverage home advantage, with the finals taking place at Yakalia Grounds close to their fan base.


The group stage will run from December 16 to 18, followed by the Round of 16 on Monday December 22. Quarter-finals and semi-finals are scheduled for December 23 and 24, respectively. Volleyball matches will also feature two pools, culminating in the finals on December 26, the same day as the football finals and play-offs at Yakalia Grounds.

Football winners will receive Ksh 30,000, a full branded jersey, a match ball and a trophy. The runners-up will take home Ksh 20,000 plus similar rewards except a trophy while the third-place team will receive Ksh 10,000, a branded jersey, and a soccer ball. The fourth-placed side will pocket Ksh 5,000 in addition to a branded jersey and playing ball. Teams finishing from 5th to 28th position will each receive Ksh 1,000 and a soccer ball.

Volleyball champions will take home Ksh 10,000, a full branded jersey, a ball, and a trophy. The runners-up will receive Ksh 7,000, along with a branded jersey and a ball, while the third-place team will earn Ksh 5,000 plus a jersey and a ball. The fourth-place finishers will pocket Ksh 4,000 in addition to a branded jersey and a ball. Teams finishing in 5th and 6th place will each receive Ksh 3,000, a full branded jersey, and a ball.


Speaking exclusively to Ukambani News Hub reporter, Hon. Dennis Syengo praised the tournament’s growth and reaffirmed his commitment to youth development. “Season 2 is bigger and better because Mulango Ward youth deserve continuous support and opportunities,” he said. “This tournament is a symbol of unity, talent and hope. As your incoming MCA, I am committed to growing it every year and empowering our youth across all villages.”

He also expressed gratitude to team coaches, players, fans and the planning committee for their dedication.
