Bestrock Sacco Sensitizes Members on Shift From AGM to Delegates System
Bestrock Savings and Credit Cooperative Society on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, convened an education day to brief members on its transition from Annual General Meetings (AGMs) to an Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM) system.
The forum, held at the Kitui Agricultural Training Centre (ATC) grounds in Kitui town, brought together hundreds of members from across Kitui town and surroundings with a similar sensitization exercise for Bestrock Sacco members in the Mwingi area is scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 2025.
The move follows a circular issued on June 18, 2025, by the Commissioner for Cooperative Development, directing all cooperatives in Kenya with memberships exceeding 5,000 to adopt a delegate-based representation system for their general meetings.

Addressing members during the event, Bestrock Sacco CEO Michael Mutua expressed gratitude for the strong turnout and members’ willingness to embrace the new ADM system. “We are grateful to our members for accepting the shift from the AGM system to the ADM system. We are following the directive as guided by the Ministry of Cooperatives Development,” he said.

26 years since its establishment, Bestrock Sacco has grown to over 6,000 members and expanded its footprint with several branches across Kitui County and in neighbouring areas.
The Sacco’s Marketing Officer Carol Munyao praised the introduction of the delegate structure, noting that it will enhance representation and make it easier for members’ concerns to be addressed compared to the previous AGM system. “Today, we gathered at ATC with members from various parts of Kitui County to educate them on the transition from AGM to ADM, following the Commissioner’s directive. The ADM structure will provide a more efficient platform for raising concerns than the large, crowded AGMs,” she said.

Carol also encouraged members to be turning out in large numbers for the meetings with their delegate representatives in various areas. She emphasized that this would give them an opportunity to voice their concerns to the individuals who will be elected to present these issues during the Annual Delegates Meetings.
After concluding the education briefing on the transition from AGM to ADM, the Sacco will conduct delegate elections early next year. The elected delegates will represent other members during the Annual Delegates Meetings.
