Zambia national team captain Kelvin Kampamba has vowed that the Chipolopolo will fight with pride and passion when they face Kenya in their final group fixture of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Speaking during a pre-match press conference, Kampamba admitted that Zambia’s campaign has fallen short of expectations but insisted the players are determined to end on a positive note.
“We want to finish CHAN with pride. We are hungry for victory against Kenya in tomorrow’s game,” Kampamba said. “We know it won’t be an easy game because they are the host nation, but we also need to show our passion and our pride for our nation.”
The Zambian skipper acknowledged that the team’s performances have left fans back home disappointed but assured that the players will give their all in their final outing.
“We have disappointed a lot of fans back home, but as players, we will give it our all tomorrow,” he added.

Zambia, who have already been knocked out of the tournament, are yet to secure a single point in Group A after three consecutive defeats. The Chipolopolo sit bottom of the standings with zero points and will be chasing their first win of the competition.
Meanwhile, Kenya, who are top of Group A, will be equally motivated as they aim to seal their place at the summit. A victory for the Harambee Stars would guarantee them the top spot and set up a quarter-final clash against the runners-up of Group B, which is likely to be either Mauritania or Madagascar.
The clash at Kasarani promises to be a tense battle, with Zambia seeking redemption and Kenya eager to maintain their momentum in front of a 27,000 home fans.
