The Grand Sammy Mutea’s Football Tournament Enters 4th Edition to Empower and Unite Zombe/Mwitika Youths

Zombe/Mwitika Ward in Kitui East constituency is preparing for a vibrant display of sporting talent this November as philanthropist Sammy Mutea launches the 4th Edition of the Sammy Mutea Football Cup Tournament. The highly anticipated event will take place at the Kaumu Community Grounds.

The two-day tournament, scheduled for Friday, November 28, and Saturday, November 29, 2025, aims not only to entertain but also to keep young people positively engaged during the long December holiday. According to Sammy Mutea, the tournament seeks to engage youth constructively, helping them stay united, focused, and away from drugs and other harmful social behaviours while celebrating them, giving them a reason to smile, and inspiring hope for their future.

This year’s tournament brings together 6 teams from across Zombe/Mwitika Ward, including: Ngaaka FC, Ndakani FC, Kawea FC, Kavaani FC, Spartans FC, and Kasunguni FC.

Speaking exclusively to Ukambani News Hub ahead of the event, Sammy Mutea said the timing of the tournament was deliberate, targeting a period when youths are most vulnerable to negative influences. “I aligned the 4th Edition of this mega tournament so that I can steer youth away from drugs and other destructive activities while promoting unity and discipline,” he said.
