Mwende Macharia Finally Lands New Radio Job After a Year Off Air
Celebrated media personality Esther Mwende Macharia, popularly known as “The Queen of the Airwaves,” is officially back on radio after a year-long break. Mwende, who has been one of Kenya’s most recognizable radio voices, announced her big comeback on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, sending waves of excitement among her fans and followers.
Mwende took to her social media pages to share the news, writing:

The former Radio Maisha host revealed that she has joined Radio Jambo, a station under the Radio Africa Group, where she will host a late-night show starting Monday, October 6th, 2025.
Mwende’s return marks a major comeback after leaving Radio Maisha in August 2024, following 14 successful years with the Standard Group-owned station. Her exit came shortly after the company announced a massive layoff of about 300 employees as part of a business restructuring process.

At Radio Maisha, Mwende became a household name through her popular show #Konnect, which she co-hosted with Clemmo 254, captivating millions of listeners across the country.
