Hon. Nzilu Nzioka Embarks on Distribution of Learning Tables to ECDE Pupils in Kyangwithya West

Kyangwithya West ward MCA and County Assembly Deputy Speaker, Hon. Christopher Nzilu Nzioka, has embarked on a comprehensive initiative to distribute learning tables to all Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) centres across Kyangwithya West Ward, in a move aimed at improving learning conditions for young pupils.

The programme seeks to improve learning environment for the young learners and comfortable seating facilities, addressing a long-standing challenge in many ECDE centres that have struggled with inadequate learning furniture amid a growing number of pupils.

Hon. Nzilu Nzioka officially kicked off the tables distribution exercise at Ithiani Primary School, where he handed over more than 20 learning tables. Speaking during the event, he reiterated his commitment to strengthening the education sector, emphasizing that investment in early childhood education is key to nurturing discipline, concentration, and academic excellence. “This initiative is being implemented through a Community-Based Organization (CBO) that we established here in Kyangwithya West. Through it, we identified the need and resolved to support our ECDE learners by providing learning tables,” said Hon. Nzilu Nzioka.

He noted that the programme was initiated following requests from parents, who raised concerns over the shortage of tables in ECDE centres, making learning difficult for children. Hon. Nzilu Nzioka stressed the importance of providing a conducive learning environment at an early age, citing that a child’s brain development begins at a young stage. “I came up with this initiative through the CBO we registered in Kyangwithya West because I believe that a child’s development starts early. For that reason, I am committed to giving our learners the best environment so they can grow and learn well,” he added.

The Deputy Speaker further announced that the learning tables distribution programme will be extended beyond Kyangwithya West Ward to other wards within Kitui Central Constituency, and potentially across Kitui County. “This is not an initiative limited to Kyangwithya West. As the Deputy Speaker of the Kitui County Assembly, I serve all the people of Kitui, and I will continue supporting similar programmes across the constituency and county,” he stated.

Parents, teachers, and school administrators have welcomed the initiative, terming it timely and impactful. Teachers noted that the new tables will significantly improve pupils’ comfort, concentration, and classroom organization, ultimately enhancing the learning experience.

Hon. Nzilu Nzioka emphasized that the project forms part of his broader development agenda focused on improving education standards, child welfare, and equitable access to resources. He assured residents that his office will continue working closely with stakeholders to address challenges affecting ECDEs and other public institutions.

Popularly known as Kamwana Ka Wia, Hon. Nzilu Nzioka has already declared his intention to vie for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Elections, succeeding the current MP, Hon. Makali Mulu, who is eyeing the Kitui County gubernatorial position.

The ongoing learning tables distribution exercise will cover all ECDE centres in Kyangwithya West, underscoring the ward leadership’s commitment to nurturing quality education from the grassroots.
