DCI Officers Probe Mysterious Death of Grade 2 Pupil in Kyoani, Kitui South

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Mutomo Kitui South have launched investigations into the sudden death of a Grade 2 pupil from Wiitu Comprehensive School in Kiangu, Kyoani, Ikutha Sub-County. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, while the child was on the way home from school.

Speaking to Ukambani News Hub, the mother of the deceased, Phyllis Mulinge, appealed to the investigation team to thoroughly probe the matter to determine the cause of her child’s untimely death. She said the incident had left her devastated and struggling to come to terms with the loss.

“That day, I prepared my child to go to school full of health. He never complained of having any complications like a headache or stomachache. I was shocked when I was called by one of her classmates to go and collect her, only to find she was already dead,” Mrs. Mulinge painfully recounted.

She described her child’s passing as a huge loss to the family, saying she had high hopes for her daughter and believed she would one day support her in the future. The grieving mother noted that her sudden death has left a big void that will be difficult to fill. “My child has left a very big void. I had high hopes that she would one day grow up, succeed, and support me in the future. Now all those dreams are shattered,” she added.
