Residents of Mwaathe in Lower Kituti and Kamina in Upper Kituti, Athi Ward, Kitui South Constituency, have unanimously endorsed super Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Gladys Mami Kivoto, as their preferred candidate for the Member of Parliament seat in the 2027 General Election.
The endorsement came on Sunday when Kivoto attended a church service at AIC Mukameni in Mwaathe, Lower Kituti, before meeting hundreds of residents at Mukameni town. The residents openly declared their support and desire to see her represent them in Parliament, citing what they described as failed leadership, misrepresentation, and neglect in the constituency over the past 15 years that they said had left the constituency lagging behind in development.

Speaking during the gatherings, residents expressed confidence in Hon. Gladys Kivoto’s ability to bring meaningful change describing her as a dependable and development-oriented leader who has consistently demonstrated commitment to uplifting the lives of ordinary mwananchi. Many praised her accessibility, humility, and willingness to listen to the concerns of the people, qualities they believe are essential for transformative leadership in Kitui South constituency.

Despite the growing calls and widespread endorsement, Hon. Mami Kivoto has not officially declared her candidacy for the parliamentary seat. However, momentum continues to build among Kitui South residents who have increasingly urged her to contest, pointing to her development record as the chief officer in the department of Agriculture & fisheries, and grassroots connection.

Hon. Gladys Kivoto also visited Kamina in Upper Kituti, where she was warmly received by hundreds of enthusiastic residents. Just like their counterparts in Mwaathe, Kamina residents declared their support for her potential bid, urging her to step forward and offer transformative leadership they’ve lacked in the constituency.
