Manzee Earth Dam Desilting Nears Completion in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward

The desilting of Manzee Earth Dam in Ikanga/Kyatune Ward, Kitui South constituency, is almost complete, bringing renewed hope for improved water access in the area. The project, which was officially launched in May this year, is being spearheaded by the Kitui County Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock through the Department of Agricultural Mechanization Services, under the stewardship of Chief Officer for Agriculture and Fisheries, Gladys Kivoto, and the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe.

While speaking during the launch in May this year, Chief Officer Kivoto reaffirmed the County Government’s dedication to realizing Governor Malombe’s 16-sector development blueprint, “The Kitui Promise.” She emphasized that water provision remains a central pillar of the Governor’s administration, highlighting the critical role of earth dams in addressing the county’s persistent water challenges.
